Terms of service
Last updated: 9 June 2026
TL;DR. Budjo is a personal-finance notebook, not an advisor. You own your data. Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. EU/UK users get 14 days to change their mind. Be reasonable, don't break the law, and we'll do the same.
Budjo is a personal budget tool. It helps you organise your money, but it's not financial advice. By using Budjo, you agree to use it responsibly and follow the terms on this page.
Who we are
Budjo is operated by Fabio Zanchi Mancuso trading as Budjo (ABN 46 596 098 326), based in Queensland, Australia. Contact: support@budjo.app. In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean the operator above; "you" means the person using Budjo.
Using Budjo
Budjo is a personal-finance tool for household budgeting. Don't use it to commit fraud, run a business as if it were a person, or break local financial-reporting laws. Don't try to scrape, reverse-engineer, or overload our infrastructure. Don't use Budjo to harass, harm, or impersonate anyone.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Budjo for personal household budgeting. The Budjo name, logo, and code are ours; you don't get any rights to them beyond what's needed to use the service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Budjo. Budjo isn't intended for children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a child has signed up, email support@budjo.app and we'll delete the account.
Accounts
You need a valid email to create a synced account. One person, one account; one family, one Family subscription. A Family subscription covers up to 5 members in one household. People who share day-to-day finances, typically at the same address. Billed to a single payer. The owner can invite or remove members from Household settings. Sharing your login outside your household is at your own risk; we can't recover data someone else deletes from your account.
Billing
Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. We use Stripe for all payments. Receipts and invoices live in the Stripe customer portal. Prices are shown in USD; Stripe shows your local currency at checkout using their conversion rate.
Taxes. We use Stripe Tax to calculate and collect VAT, GST, and sales tax automatically based on your location. Where tax applies, it's shown at checkout before you pay.
Renewal reminders. Before each renewal we'll email you with the renewal date, the amount, any price change, and a one-click cancel link. You can also cancel anytime from Settings → Billing or via the Stripe customer portal.
14-day cooling-off (EU and UK). If you live in the EU or UK, you have 14 days from purchase to cancel for a full refund, no reason needed. Email support@budjo.app within 14 days and we'll refund you. The same 14-day right applies after a renewal that follows a free trial or after a 12-month-or-longer subscription auto-renews.
Other refunds. Outside the cooling-off period, we don't offer refunds for partial billing periods. If something is genuinely broken or we made a mistake, email us. We're reasonable.
Your data
You own every byte of data you put into Budjo. We claim no licence over it beyond what is strictly needed to run the app (showing it back to you, syncing it across your devices, backing it up). You can export everything to CSV anytime from Settings → Data, and delete your account anytime from Settings → Account. You can also email an export of your transactions to a recipient you choose (for example, your accountant); when you do, you're sending your own data to a third party of your choosing, and that choice is yours. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Uploads and your content
On paid plans, Budjo lets you attach receipt images to transactions. You keep ownership of what you upload ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to operate the service for you and your household.
You're solely responsible for Your Content. You confirm that: (a) you own it or have the right to upload it; (b) it doesn't infringe anyone's rights or break the law; and (c) it doesn't contain malware. The receipt feature is for genuine images of your own records — don't use it to store unlawful content, content you have no right to share, or files that aren't real images. We don't pre-screen, virus-scan, or moderate uploads. Images can carry metadata (such as location); you decide what to upload. If you're in a household, anything you upload is visible to the other members. We don't actively monitor uploads, but we may remove content or suspend accounts that we reasonably believe break these Terms or the law.
Financial advice disclaimer
Budjo is a budgeting tool. Nothing in Budjo constitutes financial, tax, investment, or legal advice. The math is yours, the decisions are yours, the responsibility is yours. For personal financial decisions, consult a licensed advisor.
Termination
You can cancel anytime from Settings. We can suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms, attempt fraud, or put other users at risk. Usually with notice unless that would defeat the point. In either case, we'll export your data on request. After cancellation, your synced data is deleted within 30 days (see Privacy Policy for the detail on what's retained for legal reasons, like tax records).
Liability
Budjo is provided as-is and as-available. We're not a regulated financial advisor.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of Budjo is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in this clause excludes liability for fraud, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited under Australian Consumer Law, UK consumer law, or your local equivalent.
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of Budjo, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of someone else's rights.
Changes
We'll notify you of material changes to these Terms or to the Privacy Policy at least 30 days before they take effect, by email or via a banner in the app. Continuing to use Budjo after the effective date means you accept the changes. If you don't, cancel before the changes take effect.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Queensland, unless mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country give you the right to bring a claim locally. Which they often do.
If something here is unenforceable
If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. These Terms (together with the Privacy Policy) are the entire agreement between you and Budjo.
